Owl Jewelry

Found the cutest owl brooch at a local Flea Market here in Austin. It is at the Burnet Road Farmer’s Market on Saturdays til around 1pm.

This brooch or scarf pin is silver toned with red rhinestone eyes and a beaded turquoise body. He is sitting on a little branch. Seems to be stamped on the back Yensi. He is up on Etsy as I really don’t wear jewelry a lot. I think he could also make a great necklace by adding a chain to the pin on the back.

The fashion for owls started in the late 1960s and 70s. I remember my parents had an owl cookie jar and owl salt & pepper shakers. The owl craze started up again when the Harry Potter movies came out. (Yay, Hedwig.) It spread to non Harry Potter fanatics because owls are just plain cute.

Check out a few more bits of owl jewelry on Etsy besides just mine.
